De Beekse Toren

• Historical monument on the Vrijthof square

1st attic

This room contains a permanent exhibition about Hilvarenbeek’s rich history and its unique tower. Small doors give way to the ‘loggia’ with excellent views of the Vrijthof square. It has an old lime tree dating back to 1676. This is the place where justice was administered. An attachment on the south side used to have a prison upstairs. There also used to be a weigh-house here. The old prison door is still visible, as well as a balance dating back to 1627.
